30.11. Creating & Using Landing Pages
In most cases the links that Arctic generates for you automatically for your trip types, rental items and business groups will provide you with what you need to effectively guide guests from your main website to the appropriate booking pages for what they would like to book. However, Arctic also provides tools for you to create "Custom Landing Pages" that allow you to create your own specific groupings of trips or rental items so they appear on the same page. These tools are excellent for grouping together multiple lodging options or making a page that would show only your "family friendly" trips for example.
To create a "Custom Landing Page", go to the "Browse Landing Pages" page under either "Online Reservations" or "Online Rentals" depending on whether you want to create a landing page for your online trip offerings or your online rental offerings.
On the "Browse Landing Pages" page, click the green "+ Create Landing Page" button to create a new custom landing page.
The "Create Landing Page" page, is divided into two sections. The first section, at the top of the page, is where you will enter some basic settings and information for your new custom landing page.
The first field is where you will give your page a name. The page name will be part of the link Arctic generates for the page which means it will be seen by guests so be sure to choose an appropriate name for your page.
For custom landing pages for trips, you will be able to choose your preferred "Booking Interface". You can choose the "System Default" which will be whatever you selected for the "Booking Interface" in the "Online Reservation Settings" (To read more about the "Online Reservation Settings" click here to view the relevant support documentation.) Or you can select "Trip List" or "Trip Calendar". (For more information about the "Booking Interface" options click here to view the relevant support documentation.)
Next you can enter a "Header". The header can be used to describe the options displayed on the page. For example, if the custom landing page will display your various family friendly trip offerings, the header may say, "Here is a list of all of our family friendly options which are suitable for families with children 6 years of age or older."
If you have multiple guest-facing sites, you will also be able to specify the guest-facing site you would like the page to be used on.
In the second section of the page, you will use conditions to define what should be displayed on your new custom landing page. This is particularly helpful for when you have multiple different trip types or rental items that you want to appear all on the same booking page.
In the sample above, we had 4 different trip types, we wanted to show on the same booking page, so we added conditions that told Arctic we wanted it to show any trips that matched one of the trip types we wanted to display on the page.
The conditions available are really versatile so you are not limited to just specifying specific trip types or rental items. For example, if you offer "early season" trips at a different rate from your high season trips and want to emphasize these dates to guests, you could define conditions to show trips that start during x date range and Arctic would show all of the trips you have on your calendar available for online booking that start during that date range. Alternatively, if you offer several boat rental items but would like them to all appear on a "Boat Rental" page, you could use the conditions to define the various rental items you would want to show on the "Boat Rental" page.
Note: Trip types and rental items can be on multiple custom landing pages. It doesn't create any conflicts if you want to have the same rental items or trip types on multiple custom landing page and also use the built-in landing page for those same trip types and rental items.
If you have any questions or run into any challenges getting the conditions configured to show only the online offerings you would like, contact support and we will be happy to help.
When you have finished adding your conditions, scroll down and click "Submit". Once you have created the page, you will see it on the "Browse Landing Pages" page and it will also have a blue "Globe" button next to it. This will be the link you will use to test the booking process for these trips and will also be the link you give your web designer to add to your site.
Again, when you click the blue "Globe", Arctic will open the link popup window to display the link for the new custom landing page. In the popup windows you can either copy the link shown or click the "Visit Now" link to see the offerings displayed on your new custom landing page.
Note: It is recommended that you verify the results shown on your custom landing pages before publishing the links for those pages to ensure that the offerings shown are the ones you wanted to be displayed.
If you need to make any changes to a custom landing page, simply click the "Edit" button next to the page you wish to edit. When you are finished editing the page, click "Submit" to save your changes.
Changes made to custom landing pages take effect immediately. If you already have the page open on your guest-facing site, you will just need to refresh the page to see the new changes.
If you have any questions about how to create or deploy custom landing page, feel free to contact support and we will be happy to help.
