10.2. Customizing the Dashboard
Customizing the Dashboard
If you are an Administrator, you have the ability to customize your dashboard. You can also customize the default dashboard for others in the organization and control who else can customize their own dashboard.
To customize the dashboard, go to your dashboard and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click the button that says “Customize Dashboard”.
The first thing you will notice on the “Customize Dashboard” page, is that if you are unhappy with your customizations, or you no longer need them, you can simply and easily restore the default layout by clicking the restore button. So don’t be timid. It can always be restored, and customized again.
At the top of every widget box, there are two icons next to the name of the widget. Click the crossed arrows and hold, and you will be able to drag the widget to a new location. Click the "x", and the widget will disappear. Remember, you can always restore the dashboard to the default by clicking the "Restore Default" button or re-add a removed widget by clicking the "+ Add Widgets" button at the top of the page.
Each widget has its own customizations that you can alter. For instance, the “Trips” widget can be altered to not include active trips (trips that have started but not yet finished) or to include trips with no reservations. You can also alter how many of the upcoming trips show reservations, or turn that off entirely. You can also adjust how many upcoming trips will show at a time.
We encourage you to explore all of the custom functionality of the widgets.
Feel free to move, and remove any and all that you would like to. Only do billing? Take the trips rentals and inquiries widgets out entirely leaving yourself with a very clean dashboard focused solely on billing.
If you decide you want to restore a widget that you removed from your dashboard, or add multiple copies of the same widget, you can do so by clicking the green “+ Add Widgets” button. The drop down will give you the option to add any of the previously described widget to your dashboard. See the last chapter for a list of the widget available.
Now that your dashboard is customized, you can make the decision to allow all of your users to use your dashboard, or just yourself. You can also give your users the ability to customize their own dashboards if you would like. Otherwise they will be limited to the default dashboard view.
In the next section we will discuss the activity log.
