11.5. Using Inquiries as a Waitlist

In addition to a mechanism for tracking potential customers, inquiries can serve as a waitlist as well.

If you have inquiries for a trip either because the trip is full or because you are only accepting inquiries for a certain trip, those inquiries will show on the "View Trip" page under the "Inquiries" tab easily allowing you to track the order guests expressed an interest in the trip, how many guests are in their party and other relevant details. For the waitlist, once an opening becomes available, you can view the "Inquiries" tab and be able to reach out to the guests shown on there to see if they are still interested in booking that trip date. If a guest accepts, you can convert their inquiry directly into a reservation.

Notice in the image below, you can easily keep up with who has been on the waitlist longer and therefore receive first priority by referencing the "Created" date shown on the "Inquiries" tab.

If you go through all of the guests shown on the "Inquiries" tab of the "View Trip" page with the opening and none of the guests can take advantage of the openings available, or if there are no inquiries for that specific trip & date, or if the groups on the waitlist are larger than the opening available, you can use the general "Browse Inquiries" page to look for other inquiries from guests that may be interested in the relevant spots.

You can also use this method to reach out to waitlisted guests, if you decide to open a new trip date for a specific trip type and you want to offer the new date to your waitlisted guests first before making it available to the general public.

Using the inquiries as a waitlist, gives you a useful list of potential customers that can easily be sorted by date, group size and other interests (if you add appropriate custom fields to the inquiry form). Such a system will maximize flexibility in filling new openings on previously full trips.
