32.5. Usage Management Tools
The social site is a popular feature with guests and generates a large amount of guest loyalty and viral marketing. However, all of the videos and photos posted on the social sites place a substantial burden on the system. Already, we store close to a million photos and hundreds of hours of video. As a result, Arctic has usage-based pricing to help cover the increased load generated by particularly large collections of photos and videos. Many outfitters never reach the level of usage that generates additional usage-based charges, but if you find that your installation is approaching the limits where the usage-based pricing starts, the system includes tools to be able to manage your usage so that you can control these additional fees. The usage management tools allow you clean past social sites and, if you also sell photos for some of your day trips, to clean the past collections of photos that were offered for sale as well. Doing this will help you maintain your usage within your preferred range.
To access the usage management tools, go to the "Settings" page under "General" and click the "Pencil" next to "Usage".
On the "Usage" page, Arctic will display all of your current usage statistics as shown below.
At the bottom of the page, you will find two buttons, a "Clean Social Sites" button and a "Clean Photos For Sale" button. If you do not use the social site feature or if you do not offer photos for sale to your guests then you will not see these buttons. You will only see the buttons that are relevant to the features you use. This means you may only see a "Clean Social Sites" button or just a "Clean Photos For Sale" button or if you use neither of these features you won't see either button.
When you click either of these buttons, you will be able to specify a date and Arctic will remove all social sites or photos for sale for trips prior to the date that you entered. By default, Arctic will choose a date one year prior to the current date. You can alter the date to be any date you prefer.
Once you have selected your date, Arctic will take you to a confirmation page where you can review selection of social sites or photo collections before permanently deleting them from the system.
On the confirmation page, Arctic generates a complete list of all of the trips and dates for which the social sites or photos for sale will be removed. You can choose to delete all of the dates shown or you can deselect any social sites or photo collections for sale that you want to leave available. Once you have reviewed the list and deselected any social sites of photo collections for sale that you want to preserve, click the "Permanently Delete" button at the bottom of the page.
Note: Once the photos or social sites have been cleaned, they cannot be recovered. All content will be permanently deleted.
