30.15. Testing Online Purchases
In order to see the guest experience and to ensure that you have trips, rental items and e-commerce items properly configured, we encourage testing your online guest-facing experience. You can run normal transactions and void the credit card after, but Arctic also provides a special "test" mode for backend users.
Logging in to the guest-facing site
To test online purchases, first log in to your guest-facing site by:
- From the Arctic backend, click your name in the top left.
- Select "Access Guest-Facing Site."
Once you complete the steps above, you will be logged into the guest-facing site. You can see this in the toolbar on the guest-facing site.
Testing the online purchase process
You can now test transactions. Either go to your own website and start the booking process from there, or use the "Book Trip", "Book Rental" or "Shop" buttons shown on the guest-facing site to start the process.
Once you have added an item to your cart, head to the checkout page. Since Arctic knows that you are a backend user (because you accessed the site through the link above), you will see a special option on the checkout screen that allows you to skip the payment step.
After checking out
It is recommended that you delete (as opposed to cancel) online bookings that you created during testing, to ensure accurate records.
