33.3. Creating Retail Item Variants
If you have an item with multiple variants (for example, colors or sizes), you can add these as additional UPC under the same retail item. By default, each retail item has a single UPC code associated with it. Click the "Add Code" link while creating or editing a retail item to add additional variants to the item.
Once you click the "Add Code" link, the form will change to provide additional fields to help distinguish the UPC codes by either giving them names or other details, and another UPC code form will appear at the bottom of the page.
You may add as many variants as you need within this one item. Each variant can have its own barcode and price.
By default, Arctic provides a "Variation Name" field to name each product code. But you do more granular differentiation of your product codes by customizing the built-in "Retail Item — Per Product Code" form to add fields for size and color. Each product code within an item must have either a unique name or a unique configuration of the per product code fields.
For example, the image below shows the advantage of adding a "Size" and "Color" field to the "Retail Item — Per Product Code".
Keep in mind that these fields to differentiate UPC codes appear only after a retail item has more than one UPC code.
