8.2. Clean Empty Tool
Arctic offers a "Clean Empty" tool to quickly and efficiently remove empty trips from your Calendar. This tool is handy for removing empty trips from past seasons so you are only storing trips that actually went rather than all the trips scheduled whether they had reservations on them or not. It is also helpful when launching new trips for the season if you accidentally make trips for times that are incorrect or duplicate trip times. The "Clean Empty" tool is only available to users with "Administrator" access since it will remove large quantities of trips in one process.
First, let's define what trips are considered "empty" trips. In Arctic, an empty trip is one that has no reservations and/or no inquiries associated with it. If a trip has cancelled reservations on it, it is not considered an "empty" trip and will not be included in the trip remove list when using the "Clean Empty" tool. If a trip only has inquiries associated with it and no active reservations, the trip will also not be included in the trip removal list when you are using the "Clean Empty" tool.
Note: When you use the filters to sort the trips that you wish to remove, trips with reservations and inquiries may be returned in your results. However, when you click the "Clean Empty" button, Arctic will filter again to ensure only empty trips are included in the trip removal list.
To use the "Clean Empty" tool, you can go to either the "Calendar" page or the "Browse Trips" page. Once on either page, you will want to first filter for the trips you wish to remove. (You can read more about using the filters here in the support documentation.)
It is important to first filter for the trips you wish to remove before clicking the "Clean Empty" button. If you click "Clean Empty" with the default filters that are defined, Arctic will return all future trips that are on your calendar that currently have no reservations and no inquiries associated with them. This can be helpful if you messed up your calendar when you were launching the new season and want to start over but these filters do not generally cover trips that you likely wish to remove.
Note: If you need assistance building the filters to remove the trips you wish to remove, feel free to contact support and we will be happy to help.
After filtering for the trips you wish to remove, click the orange "Clean Empty" button. (Note: The "Clean Empty" button is only available to users with "Administrator" access.)
When you click the "Clean Empty" button, Arctic will compile all of the trips that satisfy your filter and are also "empty", i.e. no reservations and no inquiries, into a list of trips to be removed. Each trip has a check box next to its name that will allow you to deselect any of the trips selected for removal and have Arctic leave those trips in place.
Once you are happy with the list that will be removed, scroll down and click "Submit". Depending on the number of trips set to be removed, it make take a little bit for Arctic to remove the trips selected but be patient and it will take care of them. When all of the trips have been removed, Arctic will display an "Empty Trips Removed" page that will tell you how many trips were removed.
If you have any questions about using the "Clean Empty" tool, feel free to contact support and we will be happy to help.
