25.5. Issuing Gift Certificates for Invoices with a Negative Balance
Another useful tool of the gift certificate feature is the ability to issue gift certificates for invoices with a negative or credit balance.
To issue a gift certificate for an invoice with a negative balance, go to the "View Invoice" page for the invoice and click the blue "Issue Gift Certificate" button as shown here:
Note, this option will only show for invoices with a negative balance due. Once you click the blue "Issue Gift Certificate" button as shown above, Arctic will take you to the "Create New Gift Certificate" form.
Notice, Arcitc has pre-filled all of the fields on the "Create New Gift Certificate" form with your customer's name, the invoice number the gift certificate is being issued for, and the amount. All you have to enter is an expiration date if applicable. To finish creating the gift certificate, click "Submit".
Notice, the available balance for the gift certificate has been made immediately available. This is because the payments used to process the invoice have already been settled and you are issuing the gift certificate for the negative balance of the invoice. This means that the gift certificate can be used immediately for purchases online or over the phone.
