31.4. Guest Facing Tools For Managing Accounts

In the last section of this guide, we discussed the tools available through the back end of Arctic for managing guest facing accounts. In this section, we will describe the tools that your guests have to be able to manage their accounts through the Guest Facing Site. Note: this only applies to guests who have opted to create a password or were improted from version 1 and already had a password.

First, if your guest wants to change the email address or password associated with their Guest Facing User Account, they can change the email and password themselves by logging into their account using their existing email and password. Once they are logged into their account, they will see their name at the right of the screen with a down arrow next to it. When they click their name, they will be shown the following menu:

From this menu your guest can change their email address or their password. They can also view any online orders they have with you for photos or merchandise if you have the "E-commerce Store" or the "Photo Retail Module" enabled on your installation.

Email changes made by the guest must be confirmed before they go live. They will receive an email at their new address asking them to confirm ownership, to ensure that they do not get locked out of their account. Once they confirm ownership of the email address, the new email will become their primary login.

Password changes made by the guest to their email address and password are immediate. Once they log out, when they log in the next time, they will need to use the new email and/or password they created for their guest account.

If your guest cannot remember their password, but their email address has not changed they can get Arctic to send a password reset email. To do this they must enter their email address and an incorrect password into the login form. Once they enter the incorrect login information, Arctic will display a link for them to be able to reset their login information as shown here:

When your guest clicks the "reset your login details" link they will be taken to the following page where they must enter the email address associated with their guest account. If they try to enter a new email address, Arctic will give them an error. Once they enter the email associated with their guest account then they will click the "Reset Password" button and Arctic will send them an email with a link that will allow them to reset the password associated with their account.

Again these tools only work for guests who know their existing login information. If they have forgotten the password to their account and no longer have access to the email address associated with the account, you will have to edit their email address from the "Guest Facing User" tab via the back end.
